project 1: experiencing local moodboard

              -kain sarung batik-

This project is about creating a "moodboard" based on our subject. My subject was kain sarunf batik and I had to do an in-depth study about it.

I started off with a brief history and the uses of it followed by the making process. Then I talked about the hierarchy of the fabric how the "kepala kain" actually has a meaning depending on where it is placed when worn. Usually the Pucuk Rebung Motif is mainly used in that part of the fabric. From that, I illustrate the 3 basic ways to wear a kain sarung. Furthermore, I chose to focus on the fabric folds and fabric manipulation how it is used in fashion and in interior spaces by providing pictures as a reference for later on.

project 2: site context - melaka

The class had a 2D3N trip to Melaka for site visitation. Our site was located in Melaka whereby we spent most of our time in Jonker Street Area.

sITE CONTEXT MODEL

My group was in charged of making the site context model in the scale of 1:50. The colour scheme was kept to shades of brown so craft boards and balsa wood was mostly used. The ground was raised to include depths where we had to make the framework out of strips of craft boards laid out in rows and columns and glued to the base.

The model was split into 2 sides where the model team was split into 2 to focus on either sides. I focused more on the highway and river side of the model.

Overall, it took 11/2 weeks to complete the model together with the final touches and changes needed to be made. Despite having half of the cost covered by the class, it still hurts our wallets on how money was spent on just buying the materials but in the end the model turned out better than expected giving the amount of time we had to complete it.

project 3: START UP GARAGE

kAIN SARUNG BATIK BOUTIQUE AND WORKSHOP (KASA)

REFLECTION

IDP for semester 4 has been quite a challenge for me especially when it comes to the final project. Along the way towards the end, I had lost a part of my motivation and confidence as no matter how many times I redesign my space it never turned out the way I expect it to be. Even when I refer back to my Project 1, it was still hard to design at the level it should be. Because of this, it is kind of a setback for me. However, I refer to books, pinterest, and real life observation for inspiration and motivation when I find myself stuck.

I was not happy with my final outcome in terms of my board composition and design as I could have done better. It may be because I underestimated it and took it for granted despite the countless amount of mental breakdowns I had. I'll use this example as a stepping stone and overcome the problems I had to face while working on this project in the future.
